I have been thumbing through Iron Maiden threads. Having just read about what happened at Ozzfest. And I am reading this thread. There were always conservatives like Ted Nugent in the wings. But now it is like they won't question authority anymore. Ozzy and Black Sabbath pulled the video making fun of Bush during "War Pigs" from their song because they were afraid it would offend people. You have all kinds of conservative nut jobs in metal now that were not there before.
Here's the post I was reading:
Why is she suddenly so concerned about the American troops in Iraq? Is it because she's taking HER tour to so many Clear Channel-run venues this summer? I mean, they're all in bed with BushCo. Last year Sabbath had the really funny video behind them during War Pigs, of Georgie, until they yanked it after only a few shows for fear that they might (dare I day it...) OFFEND someone!
That's what metal is all about, getting in people's faces about what you fucking believe in. Or at least it was, until Her Nibs got the mansion in Beverley Hills, the servants, and the daytime talkshow, and Ozzy started getting invited to the White House Press Corp dinner! How un-metal is that? That family does nothing in public if they can't turn it into a photo opportunity for MTV, so they sell some more bobblehead dolls of themselves.
I started high school here in Northern California in 1980, just when Mr. Crowley was released, and Ozzy was GOD! The man could do no wrong, and it was like that for years. Now he's an absolute bafoon. I feel sometimes like Sharon should be dressed up like an organ grinder, as he's already acting like the fucking monkey. The reality show was one big joke at Ozzy's expense, so that she and her fat, ugly little troll children could have a big laugh at dad. Those kids should be living under a bridge somewhere, scaring people on the road.
Sharon is only jealous because Maiden are on top. They got rave reviews on Ozzfest, from all the mainstream media. And not a single mention of her husband. She knows that all they have to do is hop on a plane back to Europe and they can play for a hundred thousand people, anytime, anywhere. She refuses to acknowledge that people were only there to see Maiden, and she refuses to admit that it was the fans who were the real victims of the melee at San Bernadino.
She inadvertantly gave Maiden more free publicity than they could ever dream of here in the States, and they should thank her for it next summer when they're selling out all the venues that Ozzfest used to. I think a nice bouquet of dead roses and an empty bottle of champagne should suffice.
